Has anyone else noticed that the four hard buttons below the screen operate the same as the screen not like the other buttons?
What I mean is, you have to tap the screen to make it active and then tap it again to select the button, these hard buttons are exactly the same on mine, you press it once, nothing happens but the screen comes on and then press it again and it sends the ir code!!!
The other buttons like the volume etc. just work straight off.
Is this a bug and if so is it known?
Also on my old pronto 1000 if you pressed a hard button only the backlight around the buttons would come on, not the backlight for the whole screen, what are the settings that I need to make this happen on the 3000? as whenever i press any button the screen comes on as well which I don't want.

That's one of my many gripes with the 3000. One step forward, two steps backward seems to be the theme with this remote.

This is a problem that Philips was unaware of until today. It was brought up at a local training seminar abd I am sure it will be addressed in the near future.

I'm confused. ALL of my hard buttons have to be hit once to activate the remote, then hit again to send the IR. Are you saying your hard buttons are always "on"?

Well at least it isn't just me, and Philips are now aware of the problem.
Kirkus- no this is what I was posting about, the fact that you have to 'activate' the remote first as you put it, although mine only does it on the four buttons below the screen not all of them.

Interesting....now I'm confused too. The volume and channel buttons on mine are the only hard buttons that send an ir signal on the first press. All the others...the 4 under the screen and the cursor buttons need to be activated first and then pressed again to send an ir signal.

And one thing i'd like to see to save battery life, is stopping the channel and volume buttons from turning on the backlight, for my usage, that's great and should be an option.

I have used the two center buttons at the bottom of the screen to jump pages on the DSS guide. Once in a while it will go two pages at once instead of one. I have tried to learn and relearn the buttons from the source remote. I am conviced its a pronto issue. Has anyone else encountered this or am I doing something wrong?

The pronto has trouble in a macro with buttons that will repeat when they are held down. You might try learning the Ir code on the button instead of linking to it and see if that works.

I tried that (many times). I made sure I was just giving a quick tap on the source remote. I also make sure that I only tap the Pronto button quickly. It has been much better in the latest release. It used to do it 95% of the time before, now its like 5-10%. Oh well, it was worth a try to ask anyways.
