I'm still having trouble uploading my PCF from the remote to my PC, but since I've learned that the IR codes can be "learned" directly into the PC and PENG by using the remote itself, this is less of an issue.

The problem is, this learning function only seems to be about 90% accurate, which sounds OK on the surface, but means 1 out of 10 buttons are learned incorrectly. If your PC is away from your system (like mine), you have to learn the codes, download and test, and then relearn the incorrect codes, etc.

So, (here's my point), it would be nice if PENG had some type of confirmation macro in which you had the option to learn the code once, then relearn, and have the software compare. If identical, the code would be accepted, if not, start over.

My 2c.

Well, since "single try" code learning was perfected a while ago, it would be better to get that working right ("double try" code learning was abandoned by remote manufacturers a while ago).

Here is another option.

After it seems to have learned the code, take a look at it. If it is unusually long or short, it probably didn't learn correctly. From my experience anything over 1 "page" (i.e. the scroll bar is active) or less than 2 lines is probably incorrect.

After you look at it you can make a quick judgement about whether to relearn or keep it. Making sure that you have "clean" IR codes also makes your macros work much better.

Good luck.

And finally..... there is a test button that you can select after learning the code. simple point the 3000 at the device and select the test button on the IR learning page and presto!!

There is a problem with that. Some people, like the one who started this thread, does not have their pc in the same area as the system is. There for the person has to learn all the ir codes with out testing them until they download the pcf to the remote.
