I am able to get the Pronto to learn the IR's for the 20 or so sound fields I want to program. However, when I try to send the command to the receiver I get no response. The remote for the receiver, if you are not familiar, is an up/down toggle that is pressed in to select the sound field. Tech support told me the Pronto cannot work with a "multi function button." However, the same toggle switch is used to select the source and those work fine.

To me this is a major function that I will not be able to use unless I change/upgrade my receiver which I wasn't planning on doing for a couple of years. This thing may have to go back to the store if someone can't help.

Thanks for you time.

Are you saying that each sound field on your Sony has its own IRcode (direct access)? On my Sony the only way I can get to the sound fields is to toggle through them 1 at a time in either direction using the mode+ or mode- button.

I'm not clear on how you access your sound fields, you said you have learned the IR's for 20 or so sound fields but then you state that it is an up and down toggle button.

Try to picture this: In the middle of the remote is an up/down toggle that also can be pushed down to select a function/sound field. Above that are 3 buttons labled: sound field, function, set up. To select a sound field I press sound field and they are listed in an LCD display at the top of the remote. I then toggle up and down to select the one I need and push the toggle button in. I assumed at that point it was sending an IR for that specific sound field since nothing changes on the receive until then. I am wrong to think it is sending a different IR for each field?

Any help you can give is appreciated. As a side note I did download a PCF that is for an ES Sony and the receiver pages are very similar to what I am trying to accomplish. I will try this setup also along with any other advice I get.

I'm still thinking on this one.
Does the LCD display on the remote always start on the same sound field or does it display the last sound field chosen? If you manually change sound fields at the receiver, does the remote know which sound field is in use and show that on the LCD display? Just trying to see if a macro could be developed to change sound fields.

The LCD starts on the last field chosen via the remote.

If I change the fields at the receiver, the remote does not know which one is in use. As above, the LCD will still show the last field chosen when the remote was used prior to the manual switch. (this is also true when changing the "source" manually....if that helps at all).

Just a guess, when you press soundfield does it send out a code? If so then maybe a macro sending the soundfield command followed by the button from the LCD display. Don't know if it will work. I'm not to familiar with sony's operations.

JCL,
When pressing soundfield the remote does not send out a code.

I was able to get most of them working last night using a PCF for a SONY receiver that I downloaded. About 5 of the 20 codes I need still don't work.

Even the codes used brought up different sound fields on my receiver than were labled in the PCF I downloaded. I just jotted down which buttons did what on my receiver and changed the button labels to get them to match. Getting the remaining 5 to work will be a trial and error by downloading other SONY configs.

Thanks for your help guys.
