Scientific Atlantic Explorer 3100 Cable Box.
Looking for discrete PwrOn and PwrOff codes. Have looked through site and have only found On/Off toggle codes (have found some samples where separate on and off codes were listed, but toggle code was used for both.)

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance, as this site has been very helpful. Great job.

grobinson,

If you here anything positive on this I for one would be interested! Been beating my head against the wall on this for about 2 years. For now, I simply leave that component on all the time and rely on discretes for other components to turn off the audio and video output. Not perfect but the clock still shows so other than the position of the one light that is on and a little wattage, there is little difference (heah, I don't even own the box, Adelphia does ;)

Actually the digital tuner is still on when you leave your box on, hence more current draw. Ever felt your converter box after it's been on for a while? Especially digital chans? It's using power, and more than you think. I work at comcast and replace those all the time and have never seen a discrete on or off.

You can put it on an X10 appliance module. You may have to follow the X10 On and Off commands by a power toggle. That should do the trick.

Mitsu, that's not a good idea, because #1 you have to wait for the box to reboot everytime you turn it on, which can take a while, #2 if left unpluged for any certain amount of time, SA boxes go into brickmode where 4 dashed display across the screen and the TV will say Your box is unauthorized, then you need to get a hit on that box, which is another pain depending on how busy the controlor is. Don't unplug or add a appliance module to your SA digital box.
