How does the pronto handle functions that require a button on the remote to be held down?

I have a Toshiba DVD player and in order to scan forward or backwards I have to hold down the chapter skip button on the remote. Once it starts scanning, I have to press the chapter skip to cycle between 2x, 8x, and 30x speeds.

Do I just program a button on the Pronto to learn the Chapter Skip code from the remote and then hold my finger on the Pronto to get it to scan, or will I have to do something more complicated?

Good question....
I have had mixed experience with my 3000 on this feature.
I have been able to "hold down" the touch-screen buttons and have it repeat the assigned function. But, I have had some difficulty getting the hard buttons to do this.
Example: I have been trying to program the hard volume buttons (on the right side) to control the volume on my A/V Receiver.
When I first had the Pronto learn the volume buttons from my Pioneer A/V remote, it learned the code but I had to keep pressing the volume buttons repeatedly in order to inch the volume up or down. If I held the button down it only changed volume by one increment. After going through the process of learning and relearning the buttons several times it finally worked! I was able to hold the hard button down to increase or decrease volume repeatedly. I wish I knew what the trick is. It didn't seem to matter how long I held buttons down during the learning process either. It just eventually worked!
Anybody else see this or know how to program this function properly?

I've had the volume problem with Denon receivers on the 2000. The trick is to relearn until it works and link other buttons to the working ones, or cut and paste the codes. Most volume commands are repeating so their may not be a distinct start and stop. When you learn one time you may actually be starting in the middle of the code so the pronto doesn't really know what to do with it. It will just send the portion it recognizes, or may just cut off the portion that is does not recognize. Anyway this is how I understand it to work. Hope this helps.

That would sure make sense.
Because, like I said, there was no rhyme or reason to learning the code that made it work. I just kept doing it until it finally worked.
Thanks...
