i cant upload, i cant download, and i cant learn IR codes

it took me about 16 tries to get ONE download to work

i still havent been able to get upload or learn IR code (through ProntoEdit) to work

if i can only get download to work, that will mean i will have to RELEARN EVERY IR CODE EVERY TIME I UPDATE MY PCF

whenever i try to upload/download/learn, i get varying messages from 'your remote is not plugged in' to 'upload failed' to getting a few blue bars of upload status and then failing. sometimes it hangs trying to connect for 5 minutes, sometimes it gives up immediately

i am running the latest .38.1 firmware version. i have tried plugging/unplugging the pronto, turning it on/off, reseting it using the little reset button in back, and various combinations of all three of these, to no avail

on the other hand, the firware updater works PERFECTLY. i dont have to stand on my head to get it to work, it works as soon as a click it, detects the remote instantly, and communicates with it fine. why cant pronotedit software talk to my remote?

this software sucks

Can you get access to another computer, preferably a Win 2000 or XP and then try it again. That way you can verify if it is the Remote or your computer that is having the problems.

I just thought you might want to be trouble shooting the problem and that would be a good place to start. Have you tried someone elses PCF to see if you have the same problems? Would you want to send me the PCF and see if it works on my system.

If so many other people can do it fine...

Why would it be the softwares fault?

Seriously a lot of people are running just fine. There is obviuosly something wrong with you install or the pcf you are working on. I will not disagree that PENG could be better but it's way better than PE was that's for sure.

Great!

Glad you have it working. Once you use it I really think you will like it better than PE. Some things are funkier but the ability to open multiple configs and the grouping and mass cut/paste/move functions are a huge time saver.

Any idea what is different on the first 2 computers from the 3rd? I'd love to know so if anyone has the problem in the future we have an answer.
