I am trying to learn the "action" and "HD/SD" buttons from my remote for my Hughes E86. I am able to learn the "action" button, although I think it is corrupted somehow. If I tap the learned button on the pronto, the little yellow symbol appears on the tv screen, and tapping that button and the guide button on the pronto will bring up the onscreen menu, as it should. But when I tap the learned action button and the learned HD/SD button, the only thing that happens is the yellow symbol disappears. If I tap the pronto learned action button and the hughes remote hd/sd button, it also fails to switch the output. If I tap the hughes action button and the pronto hd/sd button, nothing happens. The pronto indicates that the commands for both buttons are learned correctly. But obviously something wrong. Any ideas?

No one else has a Hughes E86 HD receiver? Or no one else has experienced a problem learning the HD/SD button?

Yep, it's an old problem. Simply try this: hit the "action" on Sat receiver, than "learn" on Pronto and than HD/SD on Sat. Don't try learn Pronto both - "action and HD/SD", just the HD/SD. BTW, it's not just Hughes sat.rec.problem, but also Toshiba HD sat.rec.(they are the same - except price). Good luck.

Thanks. I tried that, and its still no go. Noticed the batteries were about half drained, so tried replacing them with a fresh set, in case that was the problem, and even tried turning off the room lights to make sure there was no interference from outside light, and still no success. So far this is the only button on any remote that I've had trouble learning. But nothing I've tried seems to work.

I'm having a problem getting the TSU3000 to even send any of the Hughes E86 codes.
I have learned directly to the remote and even cut and paste IR codes that I know work on my Marantz RC5200 and Pronto TSU1000 and the TSU300 will not even transmit the code properly to actually control the receiver.
Anyone alse experience this?

I'm almost finish my completely custom TSU3000 PCF but I want to make sure all the codes work before uploading it to the forum.

Don't know if this will work, but here is a HD E68 code from the 2000 file section that has been converted for the 3000...

Archer;

I would like to see the differences between this converted and the original TSU2000 code. Could you please post it? When I did a comparison with one of my Airboard keyboard keys I found that the only difference was that the TSU3000 used CAPS and the TSU2000 small letters. Maybe this helps me to resolve my keyboard problem. (I am grasping for straws..)

Thanks!

Dave,
When I used the above IR sequence it didn't do anything to the receiver and the remote locked up and had to be reset.
This has happened everytime I've tried to cut and paste Hughes IR codes into PENG.
But if I use the codes already programmed into PENG for the Hughes Sat receiver, they seem to work. Unfortunately, all the necessary codes are not there.
This must be a bug either with the PENG software, the remote, or both.
Any thoughts?

Alden

There was one IR that was different on the 2000 files for the Hughes receiver. Hopefully it will work for you. Here it is in both 2000 and 3000

Dave,
No luck with either of those codes. If anyone else gets them to work, let me know how you did it.

So far, all the codes from PENG work but not the learned ones or those cut and pasted into PENG.
I'm going to try again tomorrow, this time with all new batteries in both remotes. I'm tired of testing tonight.
Will keep everyone informed if I can get it to work.

Well, I've tried every trick posted on this forum to get the "Action" and "HD/SD" buttons to work but to no avail.
This remote just does not seem to be able to learn and/or send these IR codes properly.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
