Is there a way of making the time bigger on the system page? My eyes are getting to old to read that small stuff! (ok, I'm only 52 but!)

Thanks,
Texas Steve

If you're talking about the tiny date-time display, it looks like you could do it by modifying the ConfigEdit.xml file (search around here for instructions.) It looks like the font size is configurable there, but not in ProntoEdit itself. Look for the and tags -- a font tag is embedded in them, currently set to 8-point standard font (STANDARD 8).

Haven't tried this myself, but based on other reported tweaks to the XML file it seems like it should work.

You may also need to increase the height of the elements as well -- the 2d number of the embedded DIMENSION tag is what you want there.

Thanks Dennis,
I did a search (including hidden and system files) and did not turn up that file?

A .pcf file is really a .zip file containing (a) some .zip comments that mark it as pcf, (b) a ConfigEdit.xml file, and (c) a directory chock full o' bitmaps.

You'd need to unzip the information, edit ConfigEdit.xml, re-zip the information, and be sure that the .zip comments are correct. As I said, search around in this forum for instructions (Daniel's PCF uses hand-tweaked XML to change the Pronto icons, for example.)

Some of the .zip utilities will let you open the .zip, extract only the .xml file, edit, and re-zip just the .xml file into the .zip, without needing to manually deal with the comments.

I have noticed on the 7000 that these system items have background bitmaps embedded. For example, I know that the TIME system object has 2 bitmaps. You should be able to find references to those bitmaps in ConfigEdit.XML. Just increasing the height specified in the DIMENSION tag may not be enough. You may have to supply separate bitmaps. If you are like me, and you would like to make this change for every CCF you create, you should

1) Copy SystemPage.cfg in the ProntoProEdit folder to a new file
2) Rename new file with a .PCF extension.
3) Edit this PCF, save any changes.
4) Copy this new PCF back into SystemPage.cfg.

This way, you can have PPENG create new PCFs with a standard system page. This is useful if you are a custom shop and want a customized System Look and Feel using the standard 7000 System area.

For example, I modified the color of the Bar at the top to blue and set the color of the Device Next/Prev buttons to copper.

We know that we can modify the time and date on the TSU700/TSU7500 by hacking the systempage.pcf to preserve the settings for future modifications. Is it possible to preserve the hard buttons as well? I would like to keep firm1 and firm4 as page up / page down. I would like to preserve the hard button settings for importing a ccf file.

Thanks

Froolap,

Can't be done unless you set Firm1-Firm4 on the System Page and then let them come through. For the SNL migration mode, I had to make a choice between being able to use Cursor Keys, Firm2, and Firm3 for an RC9200 CCF or using a TSU6000 CCFand losing all the cursor functionality. The reason I chose to use the RC9200 should hopefully be obvious.

I've asked Philips in the past for the ability to "remap" keys during CCF import. Unfortunately, this is a feature that has not made it to the top of the list.

Unfortunatly, I am completly unable to understand the documentation for snl migration mode. :( I do not understand the termonology that is used in the docs.

To try and steer this thread soft of back on topic. Is it possible to change colors in the TOOLS menu, specifically in the Timers? When trying to set the time I find it difficult to read cyan background with white text.

Thanks

The tools menu is part of the firmware and its settings are not contained in the PCF file. There is no direct way to modify the colors unless you know how to hack the firmware (and I don't).
