Is it possible to create *REAL* macros in Pronto Edit NG ??? Example: I want to create a set of several IR Codes to be executed in sequence, and store this sequence of IR Codes as a single MACRO. Then, from a [several] button or hard key, call the macro to execute the set of IR Codes...

Is this possible???

It sure seems to be a MAJOR shortcoming to me...!!!

Thank you.

Any button can be a macro. Just assign the actions you want (up to 256). That's all.

Cameron,

The macro concept has kind of gone away with PENG, because it really wasn't needed, as iPod indicates. Any button can be a macro, so-to-speak, as you can call upon it from anywhere. I guess it is contingent upon your design. Most people find it best to "link to" your IR codes, versus putting them into an actual button. If you store your ir codes in a button, there are times that you cannot "alias" to them. Not sure if this is the problem you are having.

But that means that for every macro you wish to create, you would first have to create a button, right? Does the button have to be displayed? It seems silly that you would have to create a button for every macro you wish to call...

When you call or jump to a button [macro], does execution return to the original calling place and continue with any commands after the calling location, or does it stop at the button [macro] which you called...?

Thank you.

The button does not have to be displayed. Just create a new device that's hidden. Make a button and just assign it with a hundred or so different macros. Then anywhere else on your remote, you want to execute that macro, just provide a link to it.

A LINK just provides the functionality of the macro. A JUMP takes you to the page. Therefore, if you want, it'll just perform the macro and leave you on the page you're on.

Take a look at my pcf, as I have a number of examples of this. You can find it in one of the prior posts.

Thanks to everyone for responding. I appreciate everyone's fast response, help and efforts. I guess I can live with creating several buttons as macros in a hidden device... Getting help in this forum was definitely faster than calling and trying to speak to someone at Philips!
