My 2000, soon to be imported into the 3000, has all devices that were other peoples ccf's. If a button was missing I just added it with the remote from that device. The only macro's I did was ie: watch dvd and would give the alias' to change the TV over to the correct video imput and jump to the dvd device. Other then that my dvd list was macroed for the player to go to the slot number. So, basically, everything on my pronto was downloaded or learned from another remote and macros added with the prontoedit. My question is, do I have to be concerned with the brands and codes if it was done this way? Are they only for if you use the devices that are already on the pronto when it was bought and are not downloading someone elses CCF'S (PCF'S)? Thanks, David

The Brands and Codes are there to try and help you set up a new remote to control your system. They do not have to be used. To me they always seem like a pain the rear because they never have all the commands or they just plain don't work. I find it easier to make a device call IRcodes and then put a page under it for each piece of equipment that you control by IR. On this page place a button and name it for every button that is on the original remote. They do not have to be fancy or pretty because they will only be used to link to from other pages. Once you get all the pages made download to your Pronto and use the learning process for each button on each page. Now all you IR Codes are in one section and you can link to them from any other page. Now if you ever have to change an IR code you only have to go the IRcodes device and change the on the page where it is locate, and you links to this button will always have the new IR Code.
