does anyone have an action-based system file yet for the 3000? i mean something where main screen is just 'Watch TV' 'Watch DVD' 'Listen to Music' etc and is handled mostly by macros?

if not, how do i go about making such a welcome screen

i guess i had an implied question which was... does the NGedit software natively support an activity-based setup with welcome screen and all, or does it require hacking and workarounds like the ProntoNeo (i ask since i heard they are based on the same file type). i have the software but havent spent much time with it... id rather not waste time trying to figure out how to do something it cant do :P

The NGedit software natively supports it. What's more, You can actually cover up the top and bottom default status bars. I custom made my own 'Home' screen which has all of that info removed.

Very simply, just create a button or import a graphic that states what you want. Then create a series of links for that macro. For example, I have movie titles on my .pcf. Each is loaded within my DVD Carousel. Clicking on a movie title on the 3000 triggers a macro of 'folder,1,3,2,enter,pause,enter'. I would have had to press 'folder', then 132 (carousel number movie is in), then enter twice.

I did notice that the macros are slower than the 2000. For some reason, there's a slight delay between them, even when I don't specify a delay.

Sounds like you have the Sony DVD Carousel. Have you been able to get around its habit of making you wait, after you first turn it on, while it loads and starts playing the last DVD you watched? I've programmed a "Watch New DVD" button that turns it on, sets up the video, and opens the door ready for EZ Play. But I can't for the life of me get it to turn on and go to Folder view.

Nope, can't get around that. Ideally, I'd like it to always start in the folder menu. I originally programmed the 3000 to wait 10 seconds, then push the folder button. What sucked about that was the remote was not usable for those 10 seconds and sometimes it might take longer. Oh well.

But I am excited about programming the list of DVDs onto the 3000 instead of dealing with that terrible Sony interface.

I'll be uploading my .pcf file soon, so keep an eye out for it.

You don't have to cover up anything, if you right click on the system device and select properties, then go to settings, you can hide or unhide everything but the very bottom buttons. I personall don't hide them, I just created a copy of an empty button and placed it over the one that says tools.

And if you need to manually position your panel or button for a better fit (like if you created your own shuttle buttons), double click the button and then select the dimensions tab.
