Has anybody noticed that large cursor button and the four buttons that surround it on some remotes is completely translucent (light comes throught the whole button) and some remotes only allow the light to come the symbols on the buttons.

Archer, Just received my 3000 Saturday. It came loaded with the updated firmware so I suspect it is the latest....anyway, the cursor buttons are not translucent on mine...only the four hard buttons just below the screen are. Joe

Archer:
Got my 3000 a couple of weeks ago, and the cursor and surrounding hard buttons are not translucent on mine either, only the button icons show up backlit. And, like London's, the 4 buttons just beneath the screen are translucent.

Archer,
My company has had numerous 3000's. On the one I looked at today the directional pad was translucent. The four small lines lit up a little brighter but the whole pad was lit. It was, however, not as translucent as the four buttons beneath the display. Not sure which numbers underneath the cover are the serial numbers so I don't know if this is one of the early or later ones.

I got mine last week and the light for the four mentioned buttons only show up through the icons and through the outer perimeter of the buttons.
I think the buttons overall are really cheaply done. I would have much preferred the rubber translucent buttons from the 2000 series (the ones for the volume and channel). At least those were more tactile.
Also, what's with the OK button for the directional pad outside of the directional pad??? Who thought of not having a button is the center of the pad? Haven't they heard of 5-way pads? Oh well. Beats using the on-screen directional pad.

This has probably been confirmed by others already, but, I have looked at several of these remotes and the newer remotes do have better directional pads. Only the four small lines allow the light to shine through, much like the volume and channel buttons. The directional pad also allows light around the sides. Just wanted to confirm this in case anyone was still wondering.
