My wife is getting me the pronoto pro for Christmas. She is a great wife! Is the new Tsu3000 a better remote or will I be happy with the color pro? She is getting the pro for around $600 which is a good deal. How much will the 3000 cost? Is philips planning on a color version of the 3000? Your thoughts?

Estimated price for the TSU 3000 is $400. It won't be available by Xmas, though. I assume RF option will add more to that.

I'm considering the same trade-off as you, but the availability of the cursor and buttons have me leaning towards the 3000. Color is nice, but I view the cursor as more important. I am going to hear how people like the new display first, though.

To be honest to you both.

I would go for the Pro, specaily at this time.

Philips has already released the ProntoEdit NG. Which is used to program the tsu 3000. There are so many bugs on it, it's not funny.

The four hard buttons at the bottum of the screen. Are supposed to be fully programable. But in PE, they are not.

So either wait until most of the bugs are fixed, or go with the Pro now.

the Pro is higher end, so assuming cost is no object I would go with the Pro.

400 is the MRSP, so I would assume it will probably be under 300.

they already announced the ipronto, so I would guess if there would be a new Pro, it will be a bit latter. But as Daniel noted, PENG accepts colour icons.

disagree on that. There are some bugs, but I think that this PENG might be a sneak preview to get us drooling and to let us start working on our PCFs

Technically, the 3000 is shipping "next week" in very limited quantities.

You might want to consider the Marantz 9200. It's color (like the pro), but also has the cursor hard keys. Probably more money than $600 tho', but best of both worlds.

I'm diggin the 3000, though. I might get one _next_ holiday season (I already have a 1000).
