Many have complained that the "extensive database" of the TSU3000 just doesn't have their "new TV". I am coming to the conclusion that there is a bug with the Brand tool, especially for Sony TV (and maybe other brands) instead of a poor database.

First, I've used several other (cheap) Universal Remotes, all of which have no problem with any of my Sony TVs, so I find it a little hard to believe that Philips could get it so wrong.

My 3000 indicates that neither my really old Sony TV or my really new Sony TV are in the database (even enough just to operate the power button!). I think it's a bug.

Observe the following:
1) With the Brand Tool, select TV device, Sony Brand.
2) Go to the Codepage selection screen.
3) Select Sony_2 and "Try" it. (Don't actually have to push any buttons.)
4) Do "Back". Notice that "Sony_1" is shown as selected!
5) Select Sony_5 and "try" it.
6) Do Back. Again, notice that "Sony_1" is selected.

If you do this with other Devices (like Cable or DVD) you'll notice that when you do Back from TRY, it shows what you had previously selected and does NOT reset to the top of the list. So my conclusion is that it's likely that the Try and Search code is working only with Sony_1, never actually doing anything with the others, which is why we all think that our TV's aren't in the database.

Idle speculation, but a real observation.

Another observation:
Even for other types of devices that do work to some degree, very few of the buttons have any function. I also think that may be a bug.

In PENG, if you copy a Page from one Device to another, where the second Device has the same buttons as the first device, you'll often find that the IRcodes that you had set for those buttons in the first device did not map properly to the correct IRcode in the new device (by button name, not by actual code). So what was the "Menu" IR code for device-1, and should be the "Menu" IR code for device-2, is instead some other code. You have to manually change it to "Menu" in the copied-to device.

My speculation is that the Brand tool is having the same problem. The Philips brand that the device is originally configured for has a Guide button. The Brand tool allows me to change the Device to a Scientific Atlanta device (which also has a Guide IRcode), but the Brand tool may not be changing the Guide button to the new Guide IRcode. (In fact, now that I look, I see that the Guide (and other) buttons are now crosshatched, indicating that they don't have any actions associated with them!)

Note that if the rebranding is messing up (as described above) all of the buttons you "Try" (or that "Search" trys) then it would appear that your device isn't in the database, which may not be true at all.

I can probably verify or disprove this with an upload, which I'll try in a bit.
