I just installed the ProntoEdit NG software (under Windows 95). While it installed without much problem, when I attempt to start the program, I get an error message: Missing DLL file, HID.DLL... Then the launch aborts. Does anyone have a suggestion about solving this problem?

Yes.

I wonder if ProntEdit NG can even run under Windows 95...

Maybe it's time to upgrade to something a bit more recent :) 7 year old operating systems = compatibility issues.

PC requirements:
Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP

Just got that from the owner's book for the TSU-3000

So your outdated Jack.

Actually I'm running Windows 95 under a Mac emulator. Generally it runs fine, but, as you say, I guess I'm outdated. I was hoping the Windows 98 requirement was simply for the USB interface. It's almost as cheap for me to buy a Windows machine as to get a new emulator for my Mac!

Thanks.

To be honest, I am running win 98. Not win98se. And it's working for me. The only "problem" is the eluminator. Which seems like everyone is having problems with that as well.

Convert my ProntoPro CCF to PCF: 8 seconds.
Load PCF into ProntoEdit NG: 1 minute, 44 seconds.
Save PCF to disk: 1 minute, 11 seconds.
Load PCF into emulator: 3 minutes, 32 seconds.
Emulator works for: 20 seconds.
Emulator then occupies: 100% CPU time, requiring about 3 minutes get the thing shut down without rebooting the computer.

And this is on a P4 2.53GHz, 1024mb RAM, etc. :-)

Well everyone needs a tea/coffee break at some time.

Wow that is a too much time to be working on a pcf.

Even though my ccf is much smaller than Daniel, it did take about 5 to 7 seconds to convert.
To load it to pe ng it took about 30 to 40 seconds.
load into the emulator 1 minute and 10 seconds.
It would work for a few minutes. Then I would have to do a alt+ctrl+del just to get the screen up to "end task" on the emulator.

I am running on a Cyrix M II-366 at 250 MHz.
With Total Compaq Memory . . . . . 192 Megabytes.

Which is weird for the memory though. Oh well.

Daniel,

Did you also notice that the colors are not converted to 16 gray shades?
I was not able to see the final result on the emulator, wondering if the color conversion takes place there?

Martin :-)

It's VERY interesting that it fully supports color graphics. Signs of a new color model on the horizon?

In the emulator everything is converted nicely to 16 grayshades... looks sweet compared to just 4 shades!

Microsoft is about to stop support for Windows 98. So new s/w won't be able to claim to run on '98 either.
