These rather fine units (the NS-300,400,700,900 etc) can be made multiregion - and possibly de-macrovisioned too - via a rather expensive service-type remote control available to 'the trade'.

Do I need to ask the question ?

Mike.

I assume you have the ability to try.

Because I have not idea whether this works, but I have two sequences for you to try.

Power off, Title, Clear, Power

Power off, 4 sec, 2, Ok, 0.3 sec, Power on

power off/title/clear/power on

this only brings up the diagnostics menu nothin can be done in here

i found a norwegian site that says somethin about using a rl-vm700 sony remote to make the ns series dvd players region free but whether this is true i dont know maybe somebody out there has tried it and can verify. There is a uk based company offereing a remote control for 50 pounds which will make your player region free u can only use the remote once then u send it back and get 10 pound refund maybe they use this special sony remote or something similar i hope this secret will be revealed soon on the net as it's scandalous to charge 50 quid to press a few buttons on a remote.lets hope somebody reveals all very soon:)

I remote that can be gotten in the UK for 50 pounds can only be used on region 2 players, according to the guy who rents it out. I found a message board that he was on. He assumes, but is not sure, that a similar remote exists for region 1 players. I would really be interested in finding one. I have heard that they also work on the NC series players (I have a DVP-NC600).
