I spoke to marantz about the differnences between the Pronto and the RC5000. The RC5000 will come with the charging stand and has a 3 year warranty. This compares to the Prontos 1 year and no charging stand. The Pronto will not work Pioneer elite equipment and the RC 5000 will. There was no comment about the software package.

Contrary to some unofficial oppinions, the Pronto and RC5000 are functionally identical. This is fact not fiction. Of course there is value for some in the "goldtone" case, inclusive charger and software. Remember though, the guts are still coming from Philips, so I am more inclined to believe what I get from them on this subject.

I was fortunate to purchase the Pronto earlier this week from Jack Schultz while in Chicago. The Pronto works perfectly with my Pioneer Elite LV player, so I don't know why it should lack functionality with other Elite products. Thanks, again, Jack for getting me interested in the Pronto for my home theater.

Jack,
When do you expect to be able to ship the RC5000? Do you ship to Norway? How much (approx) will it set me back, including delivery?
