Hi,
I spoke to Philips this morning and they provided the following information:

1. They are producing 120 Pronto Units per day.
2. They have shipped 1000 units to wholesellers.
3. Programing software is currently in Beta test and is scheduled for release in January 1999.

They also said the Pronto was in "tremendous" demand and they are trying to meet the demand.

Encouraging news indeed.

I ordered mine from Metronet today. He was expecting between 10 and 20 units in today, all of which are pre-sold!

Hi,
BTW, I received this E-Mail from Philips yesterday (11/19) ....
===========================
From Philips -
Clay- Yes, the Prontos are arriving in stores, but they are sold even before they hit the shelves. We have doubled production and you should see a steady flow coming in at this time. The folks at 1-888-486-6272 have a brand new list with names of Dealers in your area.

My note to Philips -
>>I was curious about the Southern California availability date for the Pronto. Based on Internet feedback, New York has the unit now, but your customer support phone line says the Pronto will not be available in California until Christmas. What is the real story?

With the production of Prontos at full speed let's hope there are enough to fill the need. At 120/day, this would mean only about 3500 for all of North America before Christmas, assuming that the holiday season doesn't slow things down and that they can be shipped in from the point of mfr (Belgium) on a timely basis. Let's cheer them on!
