How dare the US government sue MicroSoft.
Thank you Sun for putting a stop to it.
Windows 98 is great.
Windows 98 sucks.
Apple forever.
Mac-n-Toys.

Do you think those keywords will get one of the
252 MicroSoft employees that got an IRIQ Remote
over to this forum to tell us what it can do?

:-)

okay, I'll bite!

The IRIQ (and the TC1000) has a number of unique features. My favorite feature is that the remote is not organized by device, instead it is organized by user activities. What that means is that you don't have to keep switching back and forth between devices all the time. You can set up a single 'activity mode' for the things you do most, such as 'watch tv', 'watch a video', or 'listen to cd's'.

For example, my 'watch tv' activity mode controls my TV, VCR, and Receiver. The wheel controls channel +/- on my VCR, the volume buttons control the Receiver, and I've got buttons on the touchscreen for my VCR and Receiver (including shortcuts to activity modes for PIP and Surround Sound control). I've also got a button for a macro which turns on my devices, sets them up appropriately, and changes channels to my EPG channel.

Other good features are:
-Use your PC to completely customize the layout of your activity modes, create macros, and customize the home menu.

-built in IR codesets for most devices (but I did have to learn the codes for my Receiver.)

-very simple learning process. The remote prompts you for each button and advances automatically. You only need to be touching buttons on your old remote and not the IRIQ.

hope this is helpful,

chris

Yeah, and I'll bet you have to be running that lousy wanna-be OS called Win 95, Win 98, or Win NT to program it. NO THANKS. I like my computer to be virus-free.

Thanks Chris (sorry for the wierd introduction post :-)).

Can ANY button be a macro without the user
ever having to know it?

Are you one of those 252 Microsoft employees?
Just curious.

Scott, what other OS did you expect, Mac, Unix, VMS !!!

The world, like it or not, has chosen Windows.

Your computer is Virus free probably because Virus authors unfortunately choose Windows too !!!

Can the size and layout of the buttons be changed? The layout of button at Microsoft webpage looks like all the button are equal in size.

George, yes any button can be a macro and you can put macros on the home menu too. You can also change the default settings of the hard buttons, including mapping a macro to a hard button. Like the touchscreen buttons, the hard buttons are unique per activity. And lastly, yes I'm a Microsoft employee...

dcc- The buttons are a fixed size, and in an even 4x5 grid layout. You can put a button anywhere within the grid. There are two shapes for buttons, oval and square. Oval buttons are always shortcuts to other screens, and square always send IR codes (including macros).
