Attention cutting edge remote gurus....

Any idea who online will ship an HK/micro
remote to Canada....I tried shop4.com but
they only cater to US residents.

I finally found a couple newsgroup posts
on the Pronto and Blam!, i find this site,
talk about a wealth of info, great job!

I'd never realized there was an HK/Madrigal/MS
offering and am leaning towards it because of the
immediate PC software support.

Anyone got there hands on one yet?

Any comments on any of the above would be
most appreciated.

Thx.

Maybe it's just the customer support reps that I speak to, But according to HK the Take Control remote won't be available until late Dec. or Jan.. I am leaning towards believing the rep because Daniel hasn't got his demo remote yet. I also spoke to Digitalville in Huntington NY and he told me that the first batch of Prontos was recalled. He might just be pissed off because he didn't get any. He claimed that there was a software problem that they were fixing. Hopefully there will be a large number of remotes released soon. I was dead set on the Pronto, but after reading about the Take Control I'm not sure. I'll probably wait until they are both reviewed side by side before I decide.

I was also told a couple weeks ago by three
different reps at Philips, that the Pronto
won't even start shipping until the last
week in November. Then I stumble across this site
and find out some people actually have one.
Boy you'd think these Philips guys would be informed on their product line! Guess not.

I can't comment too much on the H/K model, since as we know companies ship simular products at different times (ie. Pronto/RC5000), but from the Madrigal model they're expecting pre-production samples this month, November. I'm not exactly sure what the timeframe is between pre-production and production, but December/January doesn't seem out of line.

I spoke to a reputable dealer in Canada, they
mentioned they expected to have the Madrigal
unit by the end of this month. The trouble is they
expect to sell it for $700.00CDN. Forget that,
hopefully I can find either it or the Pronto
online somewhere in the US.

$700 CDN? Well, if you take the Pronto at $400 USD, add 55%, you're up to $620. You sure they were quoting you the discounted price? Or even the correct price, period? I haven't heard the actual selling price for the Madrigal, but I don't believe it would be far out of line of the Harman Kardon model.

As for the Pronto, no one seems to have found an online store for it yet. I'm hoping one will be discovered shortly.

That $700.00CDN was their estimate for the
Madrigal piece, which I've seen priced at shop4.com for $285.00US or ~$440.00CDN. Say $500.00CDN w/ tax and shipping. I assume it's
made in US, so no duty to Canada.

As far as the Pronto, I haven't got a quote
on what it may cost locally.
