I have a Onkyo 939, and was wondering if it was
possible to program a specific button on a remote
that would cas the receiver to go to that specific
video feature. For example I i wanted my receiver to go to video3, is there a specific code for the
Onkyo to go to video3, because on the main receiver there is a button for video3, but on the remote you need to cycle through all the videos'
to get to video3.

If you understand what I mean please respond.

Thanx
Mike

As you need the original signal before you can program it in the Pronto, you can thereby only program what you already have. So, no. On my receiver there's also a button that's not duplicated on the remote. There's even probably an IR signal for it - but since they didn't put it on the remote there's no way to use it.

I have an Onkyo 828 and when I used the AV Producer 8 in 1 remote, all I have to do is hit the number 2 to get video 1 or the number 3 and get video 2 or the number 4 to get video 3, etc. try that, it might work on the 939.

Just set the remote for tuner and select the correct code for you onkyo 939 and then using the numeric keypad send a 3 and see if it switches to video 2.

Don't assume that because one model doesn't have a button on its remote for a particular function that the unit won't respond to an IR code for that function. Often CE manufacturers will share software development across several models, and they'll all respond to the same codes.

For example, Sony TVs respond to three IR codes concerned with power - there's the usual 'toggle' which is sent by the remote, plus a code that switches it 'on', and another for 'off'. Very useful in macros. They also have codes to go directly to a given video input (e.g. 'select video 3') although remotes that come with less expensive sets often only have a button for stepping through the inputs in a loop.

It's common for similar models launched at the same time to share a 'common parentage'. From what I remember, the 939 and 828 weren't released at the same time, but there's still a good chance that Tim is correct.
