Is that the one with the "egg" controller and GUI? If so, absolutely NO universal remote will work with it. Period.

Not even the Sony AV2000 ? I gather from some of the other messages, "NO"... but what about the "mod" taht has been referenced too?

Not even the RM-AV2000. That "mod" you heard about involves swapping a board or two. I have no idea where you'd actually get the boards, though, and whether or not you'd lose the egg/gui features in the process.

Do you by any chance have any references to the info you spoke of regarding "board swapping", etc.?

I do not have the egg shaped remote, but rather a conventional style with a joystick type pointer control which came with my 1015G.

Someone in the Sony forum commented that they converted their 8ES unit (no VisionTouch or GUI) over to the equivelant of the 9ES mode, with VisionTouch & GUI. I know no more than that. A link to that thread is here.
