I received my TS-1000 today.
I know, it's an old product, but I like retro technology and equipment, and this remote fits both that, and it is very useful.
It was rather packed poorly, in a padded envelope with some wrapping around it. Not very safe, to say the least. I've put in some brand-new-out-of-the-package Duracell batteries, but I've noticed that using the backlight often results in the system hanging up and rebooting. What is causing this? Has it gotten damaged in the post?
I am waiting for the serial cable, so I can't test refreshing the CCF or upgrading the firmware (which is only 0.01 version higher, but still) yet, but is this a known software related problem? Or is this more likely to be a hardware issue?

It could be a hardware issue. But it might be fixable. Use a Torx T6 I think to open up the unit. There are 2 screws in the battery compartment and I think 2 under the label. You can then reseat the ribbon cables to the screen. That might fix it.

If you don't get this fixed, please drop me a note to my email addy on my profile. Here's hoping you are in the US. :-)

Be sure to search the forum. There's a lot of discussion on possible causes for that.

One of the major ones is dirty battery contacts.
