Unfortunately, that symbol is not available in the font for the Legacy Prontos.

hi. thanks for the response. do you know if the font can be edited to change the symbol ? i don't really know anything about fonts but i had a go with fontforge (on linux), copying the symbol from another font was straight forward, but loading the Pronto.TTF file threw a load of errors, as did saving it after making the change, and when i switched to Windows and started touch screen setup, none of the symbols displayed properly at all. cheers.

The Pronto.TTF font is made available for Windows use to represent characters available. It is NOT used in the remote.

The font bitmaps are stored in the firmware and must be edited separately.

Search the files section and have a look at a program called FontRep and ImgRep.

thanks for the clarification and suggestion. i've tried to use imgrep and fontrep and while imgrep seems to work, fontrep throws an "io error 2" error no matter which firmware upgrade file (taken from the touch screen setup or prontoedit installation directories) i use. i.e. :

C:\FontRep>fontrep.exe e RC5000.exe old

IO error 2 when RC5000.exe

i'm running this on vista and i've also tried running it in every compatibility mode available, all of which have the same results.

No idea as to what might be the problem here. Do you have an old XP box that you could try? The author's email addy should be on his profile if you want to reach out to him as well.

i've been able to run the software successfully using freedos under qemu. i have successfully modified the fonts and the symbol now shows correctly on my remote. i've submitted the amended firmware as a upload for the files area just in case anyone else should want to make use of it. thanks lyndel for your assistance.

Old thread already, poster probably gone. However, is it possible to save the icon for the button that you want, then insert a pound sign into it using an art program such as Photoshop, or even Paint? Then that modified button would be loaded and it would already have the sign in it.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Yes, that can always be done (especially with the Pronto's available memory).
