Months ago I downloaded the data off my customers remote. Today I cannot seem to get communication between the remote and the computer. What is the proper port settings for the com port. And if you have any other ideas please throw them my way. I have spent many hours trying to get communication without any success.

There is information about remote communications in the FAQ that covers this. Link is at bottom of this page.

Onkyo editor likely searches the lowest numbered COM port first up to the first unused port. So, if you have mouse on COM1, nothing on COM2, and remote connected on COM3, the editor will NOT find the remote.

The remote is connected on COM1. I went through the FAQ before I made the original post.

I seem to recall 9600, N, 8, 1 and No Flow Control are the preferred settings but I suspect that the software sets those up.

Also, when remote connected to cable, can you hold the cable's plug in the remote such that the plug firmly contacts the side of the jack? If this works, then you may have bad jack or cold solder joint on the board where the jack connects.
