I have just bought an RC9200 from Ebay.
The battery says 12V 700mA but the docking station says 12V 400mA.
Have these been mismatched?
I bought the 12V 400ma charger from www.maplin.co.uk model number MG81C but there is no light on the docking station when I plug it in.
Does this sound like a completely dead unit or should I change the charger/battery pack?
It is a sealed battery pack which looks like it contains 4 AAA batteries.
What are my options?

You're fine. I'm running an aftermarket battery that's rated at 900ma and it's been good for a couple of years. I pretty sure the original was 700ma. The charger is as you mention 400ma.

Of bigger concern is the light on the charger station. Does the dock charge the remote? It should illuminate brightly when the remote is docked and faintly glow (need a dark room to see it) when the remote is not docked. If it doesn't do this and isn't charging - I'd suspect the internal fuse on the charger.

Firstly, thanks for replying. It's much appreciated.
There are no lights anywhere, dock or cradle.
Tried changing polarity as well, to no avail.
Is it worth my time taking the cradle apart to see if there's a fuse I can replace cheaply, or should I just Ebay it for spares/repair?
Would love to have a Marantz controlling everything but if it's more hassle than it's worth, then my patience is not worth it.

Lyndel's right, it is in the docking station. The fuse is fairly easy to repair if you're ok with a soldering iron. Do a forum search for a description of the fuse and the particulars as to it's size. Wouldn't it be better to exchange with Maplin however? By the way, dock and cradle are the same thing. Did you mean dock and remote?

Just to be sure what's going on, try the following: with the dock plugged in and the remote OFF the cradle, turn out the room lights and make sure the dock lights aren't softly glowing. If the lights are present - the remote may be bad. If they aren't, leave the dock plugged in and after an hour see if the wall transformer is warm. If it is, it's probably the dock, if it's not warm it may be the transformer that's bad.
