Where can I find the documents that teach me how to program the codes for various devices etc. using the software on my computer? I have managed to teach myself the bitmaps and design my screens, however, I need to learn how to program in new codes for a new DVD player.

The Unofficial Pronto/RC5000 FAQ.

Also see Help in ProntoEdit.
In Help read Configuring a CCF/ Programing/ Actions/ Assigning an IR Code and also see Hard Key Actions in Configuring a CCF/ Programing.

Also read about Macros in Configuring a CCF/ Programing.

Cheers
Jason

PS.
It is also a good idea to look for Discrete Hex Codes for your Devices.
If you need help with that, Post the Make/Model of your Devices and I will help you out!

I had the original programming done professionally. However, I am going to purchase a blu ray DVD and don't want to pay someone to update the remote. So where will I find the codes on a new blu ray or should I have the remote learn each key one by one?

Depends on the Brand but you can start by looking in the Files Sections.

or should I have the remote learn each key one by one?

I it will be quicker for you to do that, unless you are looking for Discrete`s.

What are you going to buy?
