Hello,
First of all, please apologise my english.
I've got problems with the Pronto SBC RU 970/990 (US Modell 6000). Everytime when I try to replace an existing devices (for example: TV) in accordance with the "getting started manual", I receive this message: TV does not contain brand information. Do you wish to select another device!
Further information’s. When I'll open the page "setup", unter the value for free memory there stands 92%.
Sorry, I've an additional question about this seriall data cable. The connection between pronto and computer it looks like serial connector. Where can I by it or is it possible to rebuild this cable?

best regards wulfen

Wulfen,

If I remember correctly, the 970 does NOT contain a code database internal to the remote like the TSU6000 does. You won't be able to select a "brand". That means you'll have to either learn the codes manually, or find them (in the files area) and cut and paste.

You can't rebuild the cable to attach to USB, if that's what you're asking. You basically have 2 possiblilities. You can buy a serial to USB adapter (see the FAQ for models that work - many don't), or you can buy a serial card (desktop PC not a laptop). I use the 2nd choice as it's cheaper.

Jim L,
thanks for your answer. I hopr i'll understodd it correct. I musst serch for the brands that i like to use and copy it , per serial usb oder serial card into the memory of the pronto? correct? sounds like a lot of work.

A question about the USB cable and serial card. I 'll know hat a USB cable is but i nee one with this spezial kind of connector (that connector for the pronto). What is a serial card? maybe you've got a link to this kind of products?

Ok, I misunderstood your question. You can build a cable (see the FAQ) or purchase one. The cable for a Kodak DC 210 camera will work fine.

To hook the Pronto up to your computer you'll either need a serial to USB adapter or a serial port card IF AND ONLY IF your computer doesn't have a serial port.

A serial port card will only work with desktops, not laptops but is relatively cheap. Here's the one I use [Link: newegg.com]. It works fine with my Vista 64 bit Operating System.

Jim L,
thanks for your answer. I hope I understood it correctly. I must search for the brands that I want to use and copy it,

Man sucht diese Auskunft hier an remotecentral, z.B. [Link: remotecentral.com]; man copiert diese Auskunft in sein Computer, dann veraendert wie man will.

per serial usb oder serial card into the memory of the pronto? correct? sounds like a lot of work.

Nein, nicht in die Pronto, sondern ins Computer.

Es scheint, viele Arbeit zu sein, aber ist nicht so schwer nachdem man es ein Bisschen gebraucht hat.

Wie sagt man computer, und download, auf deutsch?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hello,
i found a solution for my problem, how to build a serial kabel. It is realy simply to build it and it takes approximately 5 min of your time. O.k. 5 min only if all the necessary things like Sub-Connector and Stero-Plug are available.

After an firmware-update, now all brands are available.

@Ernie Bornn-Gilman
in germany we call it "Computer" and "download" too.
