I have a Pronto RU 940 and have just bought a new Marantz amp. The amp’s remote selects the ‘Source’ using “Up/Down” buttons similar to a Vol+/Vol - button. All my previous amp’s remotes had individual buttons to select the source so I’ve never had this problem before. I cannot seem to get the Pronto to learn all the sources from the amp’s remote before it stops learning.

I have considered using the amp’s remote as it is also a learning remote but to be honest I can’t be bothered to faff around with codes and the like. I really only want to my Pronto to learn the source select and the volume.

Anyone know how to get around this problem that doesn’t involve downloading new software???
Thanks

You will find all Marantz IR Codes on their Site in a Excel File that you can enter into ProntoEdit Software.

Thanks, but I wanted to avoid using a pc/ProntoEdit to solve this problem. I've not used ProntoEdit before and, in any case, lost the serial cable years ago. Just thought there might be an easier way.

Not likely. The excel file will have discrete codes that will select the device with a single code. Not with multiple up/down presses as you are trying to learn.

The FAQ has diagram of cable.

Instead of ProntoEdit, you can also use Tonto to learn with cable. [Link: giantlaser.com]
