Hi, I'm a CI installer that offers the current Pronto range to my clients. I got a call from a customer asking for a TSU9400 to replace his Marantz RC5200. No problem I thought, but the although RC5200 appears to work the screen is damaged, so the top right 1/3 of the screen is blank. The RC5200 controls a nice hone cinema setup (DVD, VCR, Sky+ DVR, Sony receiver, Bose speakers, Sharp Projector etc.) but the client does not the original remotes for the lighting and screen control, so I can't learn the commands, the lights should not be a problem, but the screen may be as it appears unbranded. Where can I get a serial cable (in the UK) for this remote, and if I can get the cable, I assume I can download (or it it upload?) the program from the remote to my PC to get the code from the RC5200 to a format to import into the TSU9400?
I have only got into the Pronto range since the TSU9600 came out, so I'm a bit lost of the older gear. Any clues anyone? Thanks

You can do the cable yourself very simple. You will need a BD9 serial and a stereo P2, a soldering iron and some 3way cable. Go to the FAQs area to get the pin connections.

Also you will need a PC with a serial input. I think you can copy and paste the codes. Also you can open the CCF file in a NG Editor and turn into a PCF and then import this file to the 9400 software.

And least but not last you can buy a used Philips Nino in e-bay and put the screen in the 5200.

Here's the info from the FAQ: [Link: remotecentral.com]. Note that you can buy a Kodak camera cable if you don't want to make your own.

You'll also need Touch Screen Setup, which you can get in the Files section here. Upload from the remote to the computer (that direction is always called upload). I assume you can then import the ccf to the 9400 software. If not, you might need to get one of the intermediate remotes' software, import to there, then open that pcf in the 9400 editor...if you can.

Lacking that, you can click on each command, view the hex code, and copy from there to paste into a similar window in the 9400 software.

If you don't have a serial port, the Keyspan single-RS232 port USB adaptor is the product that always works. I've heard it described that way on this site, I've heard of complaints about other adaptors not doing one thing or another, and mine has always worked every time.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
