I bought this 2nd-hand a couple of years ago, so not sure what they SHOULD be like, but the contrast seems a bit faint on the screen. Is it just wearing out or are they All Like That Sir, or is there anything inside I can adjust?

Thanks as always

Isn't there a wheel on the side?

Did you mean RC5000/5000i?

Yes, but I have to keep moving it to get it right - it's a real pain!

Nope - it's identical to the well-known Pronto, except it's a goldy colour, but it very clearly says "Marantz Model no TS5000/02" on the back...

The contrast on these early models is heat sensitive. It does require frequent adjustment to get "just right". Just holding it in your hand for awhile (or using the charger if you have one) can darken the display. Later models are much less sensitive.

Damn it, you’re right! I think I had kind of realised that in the back of my mind, that it’s much better when the heating’s been on for a while... oh well, I suppose that’s good news!

I think that model might have originally been for inclusion with the SR-14 receiver.
