I have 2 T1000's and have not had to edit them in years. Well now I need to. Problem is I no longer have a computer with a serial port. I bought a cheap SERIAL to USB adapter but it does not work.

Anybody have a dependable adapter they use? If so where did you get it? Or know of another way to edit the panels?

And yes I know, "I should just upgrade to the newest Pronto's" :-)

Thanks

Do a search on the site, there are loads and loads of suggestions re USB to serial and what to do. I seem to remember Keyspan USB to serial adapter being mentioned a lot. It might even be in the FAQ section too.

Start with the FAQ and then search the site.

I hope you mean TS1000. I don't remember the name, but the T1000 is not a Pronto.

The Keyspan adaptor works for everything I've needed -- USB 1.0 on my laptop, uploading and downloading from TS1000s, Marantz RC5000is, RC5200s, RC9500s, even a URC product.

I think the way to find via a search is to search for +serial +USB, as those plus marks mean you'll only get posts with both words in them. If you leave those out, you'll get posts with one word, the other, or both, lots you won't want to look at.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it is a TS1000. Ernie, what model Keyspan adapter is it? I see there are several different ones.

Thanks

I don't find several, I find two on the Dell site. One is a four-port one, the other a single. The one I have looks like this:
[Link: accessories.us.dell.com]

and is the only one they had a year ago.

www.keyspan.com takes you to tripplite.com...from there, a search for "serial" and adaptor" yields nothing. Even a search for "adapter," which is the way they spell it, yields nothing, even though the site clearly has those words on it. Maybe yo uhave to know the model number to find the model number. Yes, I'm being critical of their site.

You want the U-209-000-R, which you can link to from [Link: tripplite.com]

You probably didn't recognize which one you wanted because it wasn't apparent that you wanted USB A to DB9 Male. I'm not sure I would have known, either.
