I'm looking at some IR commands in new and different ways, and I'm trying to use DecodeCCF.

The readme file says
2) Drag the icon for a CCF file and drop it on the icon for DecodeCCF.exe

Problem is, I don't see any icon anywhere for a CCF file; I see the DecodeCCF files in a subdirectory, but copying them into that did not create an icon that I can see and there doesn't appear to be any installation program for this. If I click on DecodeCCF.exe, I get a brief flash of a DOS screen, then nothing.

What icons? Where? Made how?

On a hunch, I opened two Windows Explorer Windows and dragged a ccf onto the DecodeCCF.exe file; when I let go of the mouse, I got a flash of the DOS screen, then nothing. Hmmm.

Thanks...

Ernie

Ernie,

DecodeCCF will generate a new CSV or an XLS file in the same directory where the EXE is. Can you not find it?

For example, Jonn follows the same approach with MakeHex where if you drop an IRP file such as NEC1.irp onto the EXE you will get a file NEC1.hex in the same folder where MakeHex is located.

That simple.

I think it is created in the directory where the .ccf is, which doesn't need to be the same as the directory where decodeccf.exe is.

Also it is a .txt file. The contents are tab delimited values, which are accepted by most programs (including Excel) when they are expecting CSV (comma delimited values).

But unlike .csv or xls files, the .txt file won't open automatically in Excel when you double click it. The most reliable way to open the .txt file is to launch Excel first, then use its file open dialog to find and open the .txt file (be sure to tell it to look for .txt of for all files while browsing).

Thanks John.

It's been a while since I used the utility. I was hoping it was same directory but path where CCF is located is even better. :)

Many thanks. I am now well on the way. I've just done the Decode for the file I need. I have a couple of questions.

This is for one device with 45 commands. 40 show NEC1 Protocol, 5 show NEC Protocol, all show Device 88. Is it meaningful that 5 are NEC, not NEC1? I will be proceeding to generate all of the codes for this device, so I guess I need to know that.

There are some oddballs here.

In general, the commands are NEC1, Once is 38.0289, Rept is 34, and the next column, unnamed, is 2. The oddballs are:

Protocol; Once; Rept
NEC; 38.029; 60; 0
NEC1; 13.7527; 34; 2
NEC; 37.6831; 51; 0
NEC; 37.6831; 62; 0
NEC; 37.3437; 58; 0
NEC; 38.0289; 38; 2

Any idea what this means, or if I need to relearn these? Should I just ignore these and go ahead and use MakeHex with NEC1 Device 88? Maybe also with NEC Device 88 to see if the device responds to those two different code sets?

Thanks.

Hex2CCF seems to work the same way as DecodeCCF, in that I drag a file onto the .exe file and get a flash of a DOS window. I've done this with a .hex file I made with MakeHex. Where do I find the ccf that is made?
