Hi,

Ive happly been using my RC5200 for the last few months, Whilst doing some updates I accidently pressed cancel during a download. This caused it to not download when I retried. Trying to fix it I reset the remote and went through the usual calibration procedure apon start up. After all this the RC5200 now wont turn on, all it does is beep every 20 seconds or so while flashing the boot up screen. Ive tried updating the firmware, downloading to it and reseting it again all of which have given me no joy.

Any light on what might be wrong will be highly appreciated.

Regards

Steve

It's called an endless reboot loop. Never 'CANCEL' a download. See the FAQ for how to use hyperterminal to get your remote back up and running.

That button should never have been there. At minimum, it should've been renamed "Break Things".

Try Tonto from [Link: giantlaser.com]

You also have to download at a very specify time in the reboot cycle.

A search of this forum for +reboot +loop since the dawn of time might offer more suggestions.

I tried tonto too. Either configuring com2 manually it doesn't find the RC. ("port com2 not found")

Just try to download your file in the remote several times, in the end in one of the tries it will get the remote in the right part of the loop and start to download. Also check if your serial PC port is working.

If you're using Tonto, use the "Undead" function and follow the instructions. I believe it's located under "remote" in the toolbar.

Lyndel & Ossocao, are both correct in that providing everything is communicating you have to get it at that specific time in the cycle, I must have tried 8 or 9 times and suddenly it all connected and everything worked fine.

It is not a simple fix in that it does not always just plug in and work first time. Which then means you assume a setup problem with PC & com ports and then you can spend ages trying to make sure your com ports are right and then change everything and then change it all back again.

I had just got to the stage where I was about to throw it at the wall and thought just one more try!!! I'm glad I did. I would suggest that each time you make a change to the system while you are trying to connect, try your downolad a good few times before moving on to the next step
