Hi All.
Two years ago i brought a philips RU940 remote control which i broke last year.
Last week i successfull won with a last second bid on ebay a Philips RU890 docking station for great £60.
The unit and docking station are in superb condition, with no strss marks on the back from sitting it down or any thing like that. But i noticed that the unit is a Philps RU890.
What is the difference, if any of the RU890 & the 940 other than that the RU940 is a newer version.
Your feedback will be most appreciated...

Regards

The 890 is the equivalent of a TS 1000 and the 940 is a TSU 2000. Main difference is that the 890 has 1 meg of user memory, while the 940 has 2 meg.

...And unless you plan on entering a 400 disc DVD changer's contents with cover shots into it, you may never know the difference.

I too have had a 940 and am pleased with it. I have just bought a 890 with docking station. My CCF had to be downscaled a bit by removing a device or 2 to get the CCF to fit. Now it works just fine, I'm particularly happy that the timers work normally. An observation so far regarding differences is that the touchscreen on the 890 seems to be slightly less sensitive to touch than on the 940, I have to press icons a bit longer. Another difference is that to release the full memory of the 940 I had to run the pronto-ini file. This worked fine with prontoedit 105. However, when using prontoedit 405, the full memory of the 940 is not seen. However, I have successfully used PE 405 with the 890. Maybe Daniel may be able to comment on this?

PE4 uses the registry rather than the INI file. As far as I know my Pronto.ini Workshop program should still work fine for modifying that. However as long as you select the RU940 everything should be fine without modification...

also for the TS did you try recalibrating? there can be slight differences in individual panels I would guess but I never noticed any between models
