I am considering the purchase soon of a DVD RECORDER with HARD DRIVE (actually 2 of the same model when I decide which model). I am considering most seriously the Panasonic DMR-EH50 (or DMR-EH60 maybe) and the Pioneer DVR-633-S . One concern is, of course, which will be easist (or at least possible) to program in my Pronto TS2000. I am surpised at how few configuration files I found here (for DRDR's with hard drive, that is). I am sure both brands have discrete on/offs available somewhere. Since I do not already own one I cannot check to be sure that another model will be compatible.

Anyway, does anyone have any b/w Pronto experience related to either of these models, or maybe others?

Thanks!
Doug

If you're putting both recorders at the same location, a bigger concern might be how to control 1 of the recorders without affecting the other as well. Unless you know that this particular model has different user selectable code sets, you'll have to invest probably $100 or more in additional money to get around this problem.

As far as your TSU2000 is concerned, I doubt seriously that any popular recorder would present a problem with learning codes. At least, I haven't heard of these devices being a problem.

I looked in the files area, see here: [Link: remotecentral.com], and there are discrete codes listed. Since there are 3 code sets, MAYBE these models do allow user selectable sets.

Thanks for that input. It is very helpful and promising for the Panasonic model.

The 2 recorders I buy will not be used in the same household. I am buying one for me and one for a friend. We agreed to buy the same model, as we often do, so that I will need to program the Pronto device only once and we can then both use the same program.

Thanks again!

I hope someone here has actually found or created a Pronto pgm for one of these specific models.
