I have a used 6000 and want to configure it however Prontoedit 4.05 does not seem to have any way to change the com port I want to use with my PC. It appears the only way to change it is to crudely attempt to connect and when a message appears stating there was a communication problem you can hit "details" and a list of comm ports will appear. I have done that and it still only sees com1 - which is inaccurate.

I am hoping that this app isn't as crude as it appears and that someone can tell me how to select a new comm port.

Thanks!

PE automatically selects the port to be used, you cannot change it manually. I guess it's debatable whether or not that would be considered crude. The default is com1, and although PE will use other ports, any lower numbered port would have to be busy for this to occur. See here for a partial explanation: [Link: remotecentral.com].

You could try using Tonto, a 3rd party replacement for PE. It's better at communications and will use any port available, regardless if lower ports are busy or not. Still not manually selectable however. Available here: [Link: giantlaser.com]
