Is there anyway to import this file into a ProntoEdit? I need to get two discrete HEX codes (ON / OFF) out of a program for a Sony SLV-D360P - but found it here only available as a .MXD. I downloaded Universal's software, but have discovered there is no way to view the actual code in their software. Any ideas? Help? Thanks,

Check here then use MakeHex to generate the CCF compatible code with the device ID and function codes (0x2E and 0x2F which is 46 and 47 in decimal).

I would normally LOVE to do that (have in the past) my delima this time is I can't test it. I'm doing this Pronto remote and then sending it off to someone. So I have no way of testing it other then what I find in libraries of prior peoples work. Kinda sucks... :(

A Makehex code is JUST as good as one in someone's CCF/PCF. In fact, it is cleaner than standard learned codes.

From a user's codeset, determine which sony scheme is in use (Sony 12, Sony 15, or Sony 20). This determines which IRP file you use.

Next find the Sony Device ID, edit the correct IRP inserting the Device ID and specifying 46..47 for the Functions, then run makehex. Finally, paste the data into your CCF file.

That simple.

That's the problem though - I don't know which Sony codeset it is - that's where I'd normally just do all 3 and plug away until I got the right code set. Without having a way to open up a .MXD or .MXF file to see the code itself (in any form) I have no where to go / start. :(

Some of the Sony devices have switchable code sets (so you could have two of the same model in the same room). I have no clue whether the SLV-D360P has that (I don't even know what kind of device a SLV-D360P is). But if that's a factor, even decoding the mxd file won't give the answer you need.

I partially understand the IR format inside mxd files. I understand it well enough to find IR signals of types that I recognise within a hex dump of the file, and manually decode them. Is there a URL for that mxd file? Or could you email it to me? I can take a look inside and decode a few commands, enough to confirm which code set it matches on those pages of Sony codes.

I took a quick look. The first IR signal in that mxd file is Sony20:26.83:21

In other words, it is command 21 from this table

using device number 26.83

I assume that means the other commands in that table, including the discrete power commands will also use device 26.83

I don't understand mxd format well enough to tie the function name to the IR signal (they are stored in seperate sections of the file). So I can assume command 21 is tied to the power toggle (because Sony is so consistent) but I can't confirm that assumption by looking at the contents of the mxd. Similarly, finding the discrete power function names in the mxd (which I didn't try to do) wouldn't help because I still wouldn't know which IR signals they go to. So all we have is the assumption that an mxd using device 26.83 for its power toggle will use the same for its power discretes. That's a pretty safe assumption, but not absolutely safe.
