Every once in a while I will open a ccf from my library to see if it might have the commands I need. Maybe download it to my TS1000 and try them out. Sometimes when I do this, I will move some buttons around, but after doing so, the "modified" indicator does not appear at the top of the computer screen, and the "Save" and "Save as" choices are grayed out.

I have managed to find some way around this once or twice, but can't remember it. And why does PE do this to begin with?

This only happens with my library files, which are ccfs with no home pages, no macros, no commands assigned to hard buttons, and only one device. These are usually files I have made myself, just using dumb rectangle artworks as buttons because I will alias to them, never use the buttons as actual artwork. "write-protected" is never checked.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie,

The problem is that there is no Home Page. If there is at least 1 home page, the problem will NOT occur.

Ah. I can make my library of components without home pages, then merge them into ccfs as needed without having to delete a bunch of merged home pages. But if I need to modify an existing component ccf, I have to add a home page to be able to save the modified version.

Interesting. I am not sure I see why, but I can sure work with it now that you have told me!

But wait -- how was I able to save the files I have with no home pages? If you can't save without a home page, and I have several files that I saved with no home pages, I am not understanding something.

Ah, hell. I just realized that I first saw this with the TS1000 but the following details are from RC5200 files in TSS.

I just checked.

I opened one of those files, added a home page with one delay on it, and could save it. I deleted the home page. I could save it. I modified a panel. I could save it. I was starting to think that you could save a ccf if you have EVER had a home page on it in one session, so I exited PE, then opened PE again and opened that same file that had no home page. Save was an option. This is contrary to what you said.

So some detail is missing here, as I can open that file that now, again, has no home page but will save whether I modify it or not. Maybe it won't tomorrow? Something to do with the date of the file, too?

Hey, I just looked yet one more time. It will save just fine with no home page! Unless there are ALSO no macros!

edit: I just closed the program to check something else, and when I did so, the program asked me if I wanted to save my changes. I have tried exiting to force a save with one of these before, and it has not worked. Hmmmmmm.

Can you say unpredictable bug? It surfaces when there is no home page.
