I Just fixed the backlight in my nephew's TS1000, with the help of many posts going back a long way. Thought I would consolidate the relevant information into one posting. The problem is a 220uH inductor that shatters when you drop the unit. It is visible by removing the battery and looking into the square hole near the + symbol. The part number at DIGI-KEY is TKS1241CT-ND. The manufacturer's part number is 300HS-221J=P2. Replace this and enlarge the hole so it won't happen again. Here is a link to pics that can help with taking your unit apart and putting it back together: [Link: joey6p.com]

How simple is it to replace this component and will it be the same part number here in the UK?
Thanks.

Should be the same part, Prontos are identical hardware wise except for the RF components. This is not a problem on the 1000/2000.

Repair is simple enough if you're handy with a soldering iron, although getting the case open, and then repacking the cable, circuit board and screen can be time consuming the first time you try it.

I just bought 12 of these...anyone need one (some) let me know.
I will be picking them up in a few weeks and repairing my TSU2000...as soon as I am sure I don't need the rest of them, Ill let them go.

That would be even better. If you let me know what you need, payment etc that would be great. I'm fed up with having to turn the light on in the living room when I want to use the remote.....
