I have a new Panasonic DMR-ES30V VCR and DVD Recorder and a Denon DVD-1600 DVD Player. The standard power codes for both turn both units on and off. I have been able to find a Panasonic discrete from one of their VHS Players that will only turn the DMR-ES30V on and off. My problem is finding a code or discrete that only works for the Denon unit. Any ideas or resolutions for this problem? I have tried many codes from this forum, but they either don't work at all or they still turn both units on. Thanks, Arnie...

Have you tried the commands below? I really have no idea how either device would accept the commands of the other if they're using the protocols and commands below.

Denon DVD On (if supported, otherwise it's Power Toggle)

I think given that a power command turns them both on or off I assume the DVD 1600 is one of the earlier Denon models that used the Panasonic protocol and not the Denon(Sharp) protocol. The codes above are for Denon and are the standard discretes for Denon protocol for DVD players. If they are both using the Panasonic protocol I'd think it would be very unlikely to find sepearate codes unless one of the devices can be set to different code set- Tivos for instance can have many different sets so you can use multiple units in the same room. I assume that play and stop are common as well?? if not you could try play stop as an On command for one of the devices.

I know for sure that the Dvd-1600 used Panasonic codes
