hi, just got off the phone to telewest to find out if they can help with the RC5000, (dont even know if people still have this old thing) but they couldnt help, they did tell me that they are not installing the PACE boxes any longer but are supplying Scientific-Atlanta boxes, has anyone had one of these installed? if so do they know if this remote will work? they didnt give me a model number or anything, so basically i just wonna know if it warranting paying the £75 call out charge to have the box fitted by an engineer. i hope someone can help me! thanks. For Motorola and Sci-Atlanta, the remote will work. Please be aware that most of these cable boxes don't offer discrete power codes so most just leave the boxes on.

Also note that some monkey coming out to your house to install a cable box most assuredly is not an engineer. Just pick up the box at a local office or have them post it to you. Paying 75 quid for some door-stop to come over to plug something into the wall is just plain crazy.
