This past Friday morning we could not turn the TV or Home Theater on with the remote and after turning it on manually, could not change channels. The remote acted like it was in slow motion, you would press a button then after about 5 seconds it would send the command. I then did a reset on the remote at that point it would beep about every 10 seconds and send out a command. After reading many post in this forum I tried to update the firmware to no avail and even have tried the telnet procedure I found in here. At this time it is stuck on the calibration screen asking me to tap the upper left hand corner, most times nothing happens, 1 out of 10 times it ill then go to the bottom right corner and here it will do nothing. I am at a lost on what to do any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried the telnet session about 30 times now and still will only start at the calibration screen.
Check battery pack and it is fully charged

Did the "telenet" (hyperterminal) procedure appear to work as described in the FAQ?

When you're trying to calibrate, are you using something with a point, or your finger? A finger is not precise enough and will often cause calibration to fail.

The only other thought I can come up with is disconecting the battery for a 24 hour period, this sometimes results in a return to normal operation.

Yes the telnet procedure looked like it was fine, and yes I'm using a Palm stylus. But the touch screen seems to have no response. I will try the battery trick and hope that does it.
Thanks for the quick response and any other ideas would be great.

Here is an UPDATE, I have left the battery disconnected for a month and now the remote works again. After trying every thing I could find to help I decided to clear the memory. I found that 1 or 2 weeks did not do it, so I then tried 1 month and when I hooked the battery back up the remote came back on with the default screen. I charged the unit up before I down loaded the latest working setup. I and have been using it for the past week with no problems. A few things that I would like to pass on, it takes over 2 weeks to clear the memory on this remote. The second thing is save changes to a setup under a different name so if something like this happens you can go back to your last working configuration. I am very glad that I have done this, I keep at least 5 versions as a backup for just this problem, and to see my progression.

The next thing to check is whether the memory would clear in a shorter amount of time if, say, a book were pressing on several hard buttons for a day or two. Even though most of the circuitry is CMOS, so takes microamperes or picoamperes, is therefore of really high impedance so takes a LONG time to discharge, this might speed it up.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
