Hi,

Does anyone have good luck learning the IR from their Media Center Extender for MCE 2005? I have a Linksys and I can't always get reliable response from the RC9200. I have re-learn the commands but they just don't seem to work very good.

Any help is much appreciated.

As I remember, the Media Center uses a toggle code, so a learned signal will work every other time, then the code toggles. I memory serves, you can use regedit on windows and set all "debounce" registry entries to "0" -- this will disable the toggle. Still, I'm not getting any younger, and memory fades. Do a search, there are plenty of references on this in the Pronto NG forum, as well as this one. Hope that helps.

Hi,

Thanks for your response, I did search the forum but I'm not trying to control the Media Center PC, I have the extender for Media Center PC which is a set top box, and I'm having trouble getting the commands to be recognized.

Thanks,

I understood that, but at least this thread [Link: remotecentral.com] discusses what I'm talking about. Read specifically posts 1 and 7, apparently "debounce" was the problem. Although it's in the Universal Remote Contol forum, it discusses the Linksys extender specifically.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the 2nd link in post 5 gives some good instuctions for the registry edit. It couldn't hurt to try.

bomberjim,

Thank you for your 2nd reply, much appreciated. I tried the registry fix and it did the trick. What I didn't realize is that the extender somehow needs to talk back to the MCE PC for control anyway.

It's so great now it works! Thanks again,

Simon
