I'm toying with timers, trying to get a working sleep timer going. I'd like to have a series of buttons for 10:00pm, 11:00pm, 12:00am, 1:00am to select from and have them turn the devices off, but only if i press the button for that night. Currently they turn things on and off regardless of whether I pressed the buttons or not.

Any ideas?

Basicaly you have to set the timer ahead of time. There are no if, ands or buts about it.

What I do, I set a time that I want my units to turn on, in your case off. The same time every Monday, Tuesday and so on. But other days like the weekends, it would be a different time.

But of course that is my "alarm" to wake me up for work. But since you are turning the units off. then I wouldn't know what to do.

it will be slightly more complicated then pressing the button, but set timers on macro side, leave mode menu. Then all you need to do is enter mode and editing the timer and adding that day

That's not possible, timers can be set for time of day only, not elapsed time.

Many TV's and receivers have built in timers, mine do, if yours are the same, accessing them with the remote would be easiest.

it is not that it cannot be done, it is just that a real relative timer will be annoying.

you could put 30min worth of delays and then the codes, but then while the macro is running you cannot do anything else with the remote, you can also stop the macro by pressing the same key again, but then you would need to turn it on again and it will be 30 min from that time

an other idea like the one I mentioned above is to create a page of timers
1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30....... that are not set to any day, then if you want the timer to go off you just click on the correct button and then set it to the day (i.e Monday) that you want, it is not exactly 30 min, but it should be close enough

I described two things, so it would be better if you told me exactly wich one

for #1
create a button called "all off" that turns the stuff

create a button delay15
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts
- delay (90) =1.5minuts

create a button called sleep 30 min
- delay15
- delay15
- all off

for #2

look at [Link: remotecentral.com] there is an example
