Well I just got myself a Proto TSU-6000, It looks very nice and I'm sure will work well but I can't find any IR codes for my Components. I'm asking for some help finding them. I'm new at this and my wife is upset I spent so much money on a remote I can't get working
I have
Sony STR DE-885
AKAI DVD DP5851
RCA DVR 40, This is a Directv Tivo
I also have a HDTV plasma screen by philips Model 42fd9954
Dreambox 500-S
Fortec Lifetime Ultra

So I'm Looking for IR code to program this remote hopefully just like the factory

There are a whole array of ir codes in the file section of this web site. Please check them out.

You do not need the exact model numbers for the units to match up. That is why there are only a few choices on the pronto itself for selection of ir codes, or any universal remote for that matter.

If you have the oem remotes for the units, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to learn the ir codes to the pronto as well. The learning eye is at the rear end of the remote. Have both remotes pointing the same way with the Pronto being first and the oem last pointing at the Pronto.

Please read over the FAQs for the Prontos, classic one that is.

Other than that, welcome to the world of Prontos.

Be sure you look in the section for the Pronto TS1000, TSU2000, etc., and not in the Pronto NG section. The NG section has files that cannot be used with your remote, and the TS1000 section is much larger anyway.

I know how to do this and I found this description confusing, so forgive me King, but: As you hold the Pronto in your hand and point it at your components, the IR comes OUT of the Pronto on the end facing the components, and let's call that the top because it is above the top of the screen. If that is the top, then look at the end closer to you, which I'll call the bottom. There is a little window there which is for receiving IR codes when learning them. When learning, the top of the factory (Pansonic, Yamaha, etc) remote faces toward this little window.

Please read over the FAQs for the Prontos, classic
one that is.

Excellent idea. I had programmed other remotes before Prontos and am such a wise guy that it took me two years to get around to it, but even then I learned quite a lot, and kept saying to myself, "Oh, THAT is how you do that!"

Other than that, welcome to the world of Prontos.

Being a wise guy, I am also quite capable of sarcasm, so I must note that King's comment is NOT meant sarcastically, although it could be the classic simple slap. Sincerely, welcome to this world. It is interesting, it has a DEFINITE learning curve, and it will actually improve your thinking and analyzing abilities.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
