Hello, Just curious, will Phillips Pronto TS1000 work with Motorola HDT100 HDTV tuner box? if it does, is it easy to program like creating a key and assign the approciate RC5 IR control code as listed in the user's manaul (I downloaded the PDF file from Motorola's site).

Let me know!

You can use this box with a Pronto. However, please be aware that most Motorola boxes don't support discrete Power Codes (On/Off), but only Power Toggle. Therefore, you may find that leaving the box on 100% of the time is the best bet.

First, you did not post a link to the file you downloaded. However, any of the Prontos should be able to learn and reproduce the necessary codes.

It is easy to program the codes and get the remote working. However, much of the appeal of these things is the graphical layout. It can take tons of time to create/organize the graphics and navigation setup between devices and pages. I have well over 100 hours into my setup, and that doesn't include learning how to use the computer software.

So the answer is "it depends".

Lyndel and Bomberjim,

Alright, here is the link to the User's manual that have a list of the codes :) so here it is!

[Link: broadband.motorola.com]

Thanks for asking so I guess most Phonto series including TS-1000 will work fine, hope that there is a utility other than phonto's software allows me to assign specific codes used in RC5 protocol to specific button :)

Again, thanks for your big help!

From the reference he posted -- it says the HDT100 uses the RC5 protocol and has the following commands:

Hex
14 Power On
3C Power Off
0C Power Standby (Toggle)

Does this mean, *GASP*, Motorola has power discretes!?!?!

How do you input these commands into Pronto Edit?

For RC5, there is an active System window and Command window. Would you leave System as '0' and put the decimal value of the hex codes above in the Command window?

Thanks,

Joe

I think it is worth for me to post the listing of codes from the HDT100 user's manual and it is based on RC5 protocol:

Hex Function
---------------
00 0
01 1
02 2
03 3
04 4
05 5
06 6
07 7
08 8
09 9
0A Info
0C Power Standby
0E Exit
0F List
10 CH-
11 CH+
12 V. Format
14 Power on
1A Closed Captions
1C up arrow
1D down arrow
20 VOL+
21 VOL-
22 Favorites
25 A. Ratio
26 Audio
29 Menu
2B right arrow
2C left arrow
2E Select
38 Mute
3C Power Off

Hope that will help you out!

I would try the following in the RC5 Dialog in ProntoEdit or Wizz.it

System = 0
Command = 12 (0C is 12 decimal. Use Scientific mode on Windows Calculator to test)

which will result in the following hex data.

5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 000C

Note that you should be able to simply change the 0C above to be any function you wish.

The PDF in the link you provided did not include the Device ID (known as System). The Functions you supplied can be interpreted as 'Command' for RC5 so I chose a Device ID of 0 (System) as a test. If the above works, you simply need to create RC5 codes using the 5000 string above.

So does this mean you've tried system=0 and it did not work?

You can go to their website, and email a question to support. The link is on [Link: broadband.motorola.com]

The direct Link is: [Link: motorolabroadband.custhelp.com]

See what they say the system number should be.
