I purchased a demo Denon DVD-3910 DVD player, but the bummer was that it didn't come with the right remote. I didn't think that was a problem, since I have a Pronto TSU2000 and the Denon site lists the IR codes on its web site ([Link: usa.denon.com]).

Problem is, I'm having a hard time understanding what I need to do to convert this chart to HEX codes so I can program my pronto.

I went through this site and many forums & downloaded lots of utilities, yet I still need to understand from this Denon chart where to start! Example: What's CH, C1, C2, Keytitle mean? If I use 'MakeHex', what do I modify in the '.irp' files?

I tried to download someone else's CCF file for the DVD-3910, but it's not on this site.

Been spending way too long at this...must be a simpler way.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Try the Files area here. There are plenty of DENON DVD player CCFs there. There is this link to an Excel spreadsheet which states it has the codes for the entire range including the 3910:

That file should have all you need, I generated those codes from the Denon documentation. However if you'd like to do it yourself-

Key Title is the function.

C1-C5 is the device code least significant bit first- so using Power On as an example the binary would be 01000(read from right or C5 toC1) which is 8 decimal.

C6-C13 is the function code least significant bit first- so using Power On as an example the binary would be 10110001 which is 177 decimal.

Denon has a tendency to use multiple device numbers for it's products for example the 3910 also has commands that use device code 4 and 6. Each device code would then have 256 possible commands.

I'm in the Mac world, and haven't use MakeHex in a longtime, but in MakeHex you modify the .irp file with a simple text editor and you edit the device= and the function=. The function is a range in the form 0..256.

shodan,

I just uploaded to the TS-1000 file area a single-panel CCF file which contains all the learned codes from the Denon DVD-3910 remote (RC-972).

The panel itself is not nice, but I refer to it from other panels in my CCF.

Hope this helps.

Paul.
