I finally got tonto to download a ccf using my usb/serial adapter but with one it stopped responding during the update and now the pronto won't turn on at all. It is not the batteries and reseting it does nothing. Is my remote dead? What should I try? please help.

pull the batteries out and let it sit for awhile before putting them back in. Chances are that will bring it back to life.

If a download fails or is cancelled, you need to update the firmware.

How do you do this if you can't get the remote to turn on at all?

Reid,
it is unclear from your post what item(s) you are talking about. Are you saying that you got so disgusted with a Pronto problem that you actually threw the thing away?

If so, I think you should have gotten a writer and posted some questions on this forum!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Even though a Pronto can appear dead, it usually still accepts a firmware download.

After changing my batteries there is nothing that will come up on the screen. I have also reset the remote but nothing happens. What do I do?

You need to download a fresh copy of the firmware. From File menu, select Update.
