Newbie just got a rc5000i off Ebay.
Having problems learning Nec VR5 on off codes for starters, (seperate buttons)
On code looks like: 0000 006c 0000 0002 0156 0056 0015 0e72
Identical code whether learned from PC touch screen software or direct learned to marantz??
Just bought a marantz SR8500 receiver which comes with learning remote the NEC went straight in argh!! But remote is not girlfriend friendly and you have to select AMP page to even adjust volume, so thought i would try a touch screen.
Have tried learning 5000i from amp remote learned NEC codes, but again no luck.
Plasma is very new product can't find any code info on it, would the frequency be out of range for the 5000i or something like that.

Well after some sleep, and a change of learning method, now one short tap to send the IR signal things seem to be looking up!!
Now got to crack the Denon 2910 DVD player.

It's hard to be sure what went wrong from just one sample. At first glance it look like you pressed the NEC remote key too early (before the Pronto was really ready to start learning). I don't know how long the Pronto takes from when you tell it to start learning until it's really ready. But I doubt it is more than a small fraction of a second.
It is also likely that the batteries in the NEC remote are too weak for good learning.
There are a few protocols in which a very short press directly helps the learning process, but this isn't one of them. So if a shorter press really helped it must be because the shorter press puts less load on the NEC remote's weak batteries.
